A large-scale live broadcast project involving the design, development, and operational management of a stadium-to-CDN pipeline for real-time 360° VR coverage of major cricket tournaments.
Project Details
- Role: Lead Technical Producer & Pipeline Architect
- Platform: Live Broadcast (Stadium-to-CDN)
- Client: JioStar
- Event Coverage: IPL (2023, 2024), Bigg Boss OTT 2023
This project involved architecting a massive live broadcast infrastructure to bring immersive VR experiences to millions of fans. My role spanned the entire lifecycle of the production, starting from initial hardware research and system design to leading the technical execution of the broadcast during the IPL.
Key Achievements
- I was responsible for the end-to-end design of the broadcast pipeline. This involved extensive research to select the optimal hardware and software stack, from high-resolution 360° cameras to professional production software like vMix for live switching and CDN delivery.
- Drawing on my experience building the pipeline, I co-developed the comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training modules. These covered both pre-production setups and live on-site scenarios to ensure every team member followed a unified technical protocol.
- During the 2023 IPL tournament, I served as the Lead Technical Producer. I oversaw the technical setup for my primary team while simultaneously managing the technical producers of three other broadcast teams, ensuring consistency and stability across all four operations.
- In the following 2024 season, I successfully optimized the pipeline to reduce hardware and manpower requirements by 30%, achieving significant cost savings without compromising broadcast quality.
